Default Need opinion on some rejects!

Hello, I need some opinions on a few rejects.I uploaded a series of images taken on the CSX Hoosier Sub and the semaphores.Every one was rejected for poor lighting/cloudy ,common power shots are not generally accepted.I realize it was raining that day,but my problem is the dozens of other images in the database with similar power and cloudy weather. Here are a few images in the database that come to mind, image #s 283139, 283135,283131,283286.Are my images that much different than these? There are more, but these are some of the more recently accepted.
Thanks, Mike Mautner

1 - I'd suggest cropping out the pole on the right, and giving us more train on the left. A couple engines and four cars isn't interesting enough in that lighting for me. I'd need to see the actual rejection, but image quality may be an issue too.

2 - I kinda like this one, but the sky appears to be borderline blown out

3 - not really sure here without seeing the actual rejection

4 - sky is blown out, color is heavy on the saturation, and it's unlevel

I didn't take time to look at the photo's you listed, but I would focus on uploading your best material, instead of being upset that other people may be putting borderline shots in.

I am not upset! All I am looking for is some fairness in the screening process.I realize now that some of these shots are not up to RP standards.

All four have something going for them. I like the 2nd the best. Do you have one with the train a bit closer?

I applaud the efforts of the volunteer's here on RP, and while it would be great, getting all 5 people on the exact same page on every submission is a dream at best. Personally speaking, I try not to upload very many questionable shots, and focus on putting my best work forward. A quick peek through my shots, and it's easy to see that over the last several months, my submission pace slowed greatly, and the view counts went way up. That's a good thing to me

It is a judgment call, but I will say this. On two of the three comparison shots I looked at, the 28313x series, the compositions had that extra something to carry the day, plus they were brighter than yours. I refer to the one with the blurred grasses in front and the one with the train emerging from behind the hillside on the right, especially the former. Yours, despite having semaphores, are drab by comparison, standard captures and thus suffer in the poor light. The CSX one looks like you tried to overcompensate in processing, color didn't look good to me.
