Default Two More Rejections....

I thought these two photos might of had a chance. But I don't understand why they are telling me the first one is back lit. Any comments or opinions are acceptable.

This one was pretty good I thought, and I was trying to get the sky in, should I appeal??

Thanks for any comments or opinions in advance!

Rich

The first picture was probably referring to how the back of the engine is in shadow. The second picture, it you're going to include the sky, you might want to give some more space on the bottom.

Yup, first one is stated quite clearly (shadow on the nose) and the second one you either need to crop less off the bottom or more off the top, waaaay too much sky!

the first pic is really backlit.i think that the nose of the loco is not backlit for the other side.
in the second pic the loco isnot centered in the pic.you should crop little from the left and little from the sky.

The first image is actually side-lit, but they say back light when there is no light on the nose. They would also rather see the nose of the unit, rather than the back.

The second image has a shadow on the front truck and too much sky.

Both of these images are roster shots, which have to be near perfect to be accepted.

For roster shots, where you have ample time to prepare, look very carefully at all the details of your suject before shooting a picture.

I think if you cut some sky and add some to the bottom of the second one you might make it.

I'd say save them both for your personal collection. The first shot is side lit and has an unfortunate tower coming out of thetop of it as well as the hose at the rear of the unit. It also is cropped ultra close to the left of the frame and appears to be leaning slightly to the left.

I'm surprised the second shot wasn't dumped for distracting shadow as well as foreground clutter. The shadow at the bottom of the unit takes away from the shot and the parking hump really distracts. Roster shots are a dime a dozen and in my opinion should be extraordinary either in subject matter or photography to be accepted here.

Well, from what you're saying, basically I should just let the first one go, there's nothing I can do. The reason I couldn't get the nose was because I would be on the turntable! : P

I'll try doing my best to the second one. From what you say, it sounds like this one might barely make it. I'll try! And post it on here....

Doubtful that it'll make it. Reiterating what Joe said, roster shots are dime a dozen and you might as well just file it away in your personal collection. There are several other places around that will be glad to host your image, but RP probably isn't one of them.
