Amtrak P32 was getting serviced in Amtrak's Rensselaer, New York, shops on January 26, 2017. Amtrak 701 is one of the carrier's P32AC-DM locomotives, which are "dual mode" engines which operate with either diesel power or electric power. AMTK 701 is wearing the new paint scheme for the Empire Service trains - it is very reminiscent of Amtrak's "Phase III" markings, but includes the current logo (as seen on the Phase V P42DCs) and a new "Empire Service" logo on the sides. Built in April 1995, this is the third paint scheme worn by engine 701. Curiously, the builder's plate (actually a sticker) on this engine lists it as a P42DC! Photographed on railroad property with permission and full PPE.
The GE Genesis series are well known for being Amtrak's locomotive. With confirmation of retirement from Amtrak themselves, their time is limited. Now is your chance to catch them before the chargers arrive!
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
