Amtrak Cascades train 504 rejoins the mainline as it departs the Tacoma passenger station about a half-hour late on January 23, 2017. This train consists of low-slung Talgo cars (it always seems odd to walk alongside a train and be able to look in the windows and see passengers at the same height!), with P42DC 163 up front and a Non-Powered Control Unit, 90250, on the rear. Built as Amtrak F40PH 250, upon retirement it had its prime mover removed and the empty shell turned into a baggage car, with a cab for push-mode operation. AMTK 90250 is painted for Seattle's football team, the Seahawks, who play in a stadium adjacent to Seattle's King Street Station, which is where this train is headed (having originated in Portland, OR).
