In the months preceding the short-lived Family Lines 'era', two pairs of Atlanta-Montgomery runthroughs were added to the timetables of the Atlanta & West Point and the Western Railway of Alabama. 213/214 were L&N trains that ran Cincy (I think I remember correctly) to NOLA, and 215/216 were SCL runs that came down the former SAL from Hamlet. Both pairs ran L&N south of Montgomery. In the early days (trains were put on in 1973), power and cabs were pretty much segregated, with L&N on 213/214, SCL on 215/216, and WP/GA on the pre-existing AWP/WA trains. Most common exceptions were additions of WP/GA power and cabs that were added when the homeroad would add a cut of cars to tag along just for the Atl-Mont segment of the runs. There were other occasional exceptions, as here, where L&N leads WofA 524 and three SCL GP40s on train 215. Today this spot is the location of the switch/lead to the big quarry opened in the early 2000s.
