A bunch of stored bucket trucks (commonly called "cherry pickers") replicate how brontosauruses must've looked, or perhaps a flock of cranes (the birds, not the work equipment), as Amtrak Capitol Corridor train 720 rounds the curve at the western end of the station in Martinez, on Union Pacific's Martinez Sub. Just east of the station, this train will cross the Suisun Bridge across the Carquinez Strait, as it heads east from Oakland to California's capital, Sacramento. The other Amtrak corridor trains that operate through here, the San Joaquins, diverge onto BNSF Railway's Stockton Sub east of here to head south down the San Joaquin Valley to Bakersfield. Toss in a pair of Amtrak long-distance trains (California Zephyr and Coast Starlight) and Union Pacific freights and one can easily see why so many railfans come here to photograph trains!
