In honor of lighting the newly restored Santa Fe sign, 2903 along with ATSF FP45 92 were staged on IRM's west wye for the ceremony.
The 1943 Baldwin-built 4-8-4 was first assigned to freight service on the Clovis, New Mexico, to Argentine, Kansas, Middle Division. After just over a decade, diesels forced her class into retirement and 2903 would spend three times her active service life at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry, before the relocation to IRM.
