Amtrak train 513, an Amtrak Cascades weekend service train, is just a few miles out of Portland Union Station. This train originated at Union Station and is heading south to Eugene-Springfield on Union Pacific’s Brooklyn Sub. Amtrak Non-Powered Control Unit (NPCU) 90250 (ex-AMTK F40PH 250) is leading the train, which is made up of low-slung Talgo Series VI Pendular passenger cars, which are designed to feature "natural tilting," using a passive system that tilts the carriages as they traverse curves with no need for electronic sensors or hydraulic equipment.
