Arriving at Washington DC's Union Station is Amtrak train 176, one of the numerous Northeast Regional trains that haul the majority of Amtrak's passengers on the Northeast Corridor. Train 176 originated in Lynchburg, Virginia, and here in Washington the two P42DCs (numbers 95 and 50) will be removed and replaced with Amtrak 609, a new ACS-64 "Cities Sprinter" electric locomotive, to continue the trip up the east coast to New York City.
