Amtrak 6 is seen following the Colorado River on the Dotsero cutoff - 29/08/2007

The eastbound California Zephyr rolls out of the station stop at Green River, UT and rounds a big curve in the desolate scenery of east-central Utah.

Amtrak Train #5 exits the Moffat Tunnel

A couple of hours late, Amtrak 6speds through Hazen.

The eastbound California Zephyr, running on time, on the former D&RG's Dotsero cutoff, alongside the Colorado River. In a mile or two it will pass its westbound counterpart, also on time.

The Zephyr rounds a bend on the water front in Pinole.

Due to the Nixon gas shortage, I was not able to get a lot of photos of the E-units while they were on the Zephyr but I did get this as the train passes thru Emigrant Gap and out onto Smart Ridge.... (more)
